The Castello di Pastine, a XIV century residence rises up on a hill dominating one of the most splendid views of Tuscany, surrounded by a park and gardens with grand lawns and a century-old wood of 14 hectares, all belonging to the estate. Located in the Chianti shire, between Florence and Siena, the castle offers charming holiday apartments and villas for rent. In the park there is also a large swimming pool with a marvelous outlook over San Gimignano, the ancient towered medieval town, a gorgeous panoramic terrace which faces the sunset, a floodlit tennis or five-a-side football ground, a table tennis, volleyball net, playground for kids, trekking trails through the woods inside the park and an ample area equipped with barbecue, grill and wood oven. The specific location of the property, as well as offering quiet and tranquility with a unique panoramic view which has remained unaltered since 1300, is also an excellent point of departure for pleasant day trips to the surrounding countryside; the historic cities of Florence and Siena are little more than half an hour away. ACCOMMODATIONS
The old farmhouses, in an excellent position opposite the castle and with a large terrace looking out onto the sunset, have been refurbished to create a number of independent apartments, furnished carefully and lovingly, each on two floors and with a big kitchen, terra cotta floors and ceilings with chestnut beams. The kitchens are equipped with oven, fridge, dishwasher, independent gas central heating and there is also satellite TV and a DVD player (upon request).

Apartments 1A, 2B and 3C each have an ample terrace with view fully equipped for dining in the open air and can also be communicating on the first floor to create larger apartments by joining 2 or 3 together. In the woods beside the swimming pool an enchanting and cool independent villa has been refurbished to create apartment 6F, with its unusual, spacious dining room dug out of the tufa in the hill.

Each apartment has its own House Book where you'll find all the information you need regarding restaurants, sports, events, emergency telephone numbers, maps, shopping centers, transport etc.

The apartments are usually rented on a weekly basis, from Saturday to Saturday. Arrivals are from 5.00 p.n. to 8.00 p.m. and departures by 10.00 a.m on Saturday morning.
In low and mid-season – upon request and depending on availability – bookings may also be accepted for periods other than a week.

1A: Apartment for 5 people. Ground floor: spacious sitting room with two entrances and large picture windows, sub-divided into three rooms; sitting room with satellite TV and DVD area (upon request), sofa, and armchairs, studio and dining room and kitchen area equipped with freezer and dishwasher and large fireplace. 1st floor: 1 single bedroom with small double bed and private bathroom with bath/shower; 1 double bedroom and 1 twin bedroom (can be made into another double); bathroom with shower and window. Private area of the large terrace equipped for lunching in the open air. Independent gas central heating. Use of centralized laundry and ironing facilities in dedicated area.

2B: Apartment for 4 people. Ground floor: sitting room with two entrances, sofas and characteristic terra cotta vaulted ceiling as well as satellite TV/DVD area (upon request); sitting room-dining room with large wood fireplace and independent kitchen equipped with oven, fridge –freezer and dishwasher. 1st floor: 1 double bedroom and 1 twin bedroom, bathroom with shower and window. Private area of the large terrace equipped for lunching in the open air. Independent gas central heating. Use of centralized laundry and ironing facilities in dedicated area.

3C: Apartment for 4 people. Ground floor: spacious living room with lounge and large wood fireplace, satellite TV /DVD area (upon request), dining room-kitchen with picture windows and fully equipped with oven, fridge-freezer and dishwasher. 1st floor: 1 double bedroom and 1 twin bedroom, bathroom with bath/shower and window. Private area of the large terrace equipped for lunching in the open air. Independent gas central heating. Use of centralized laundry and ironing facilities in dedicated area.

4D: Apartment for 2 people with three entrances, composed on the ground floor of a spacious living room with satellite TV/DVD area (upon request), kitchen facilities inside a made-to-measure cabinet and complete with oven, dishwasher and fridge freezer, and on the 1st floor in an open space double bedroom and bathroom with shower. Private area in the garden equipped for lunching in the open air. Independent gas central heating. Use of centralized laundry and ironing facilities in dedicated area.

6F: Independent villa for 6 people in the woods below the swimming pool with its own automatic and independent car access straight from the provincial road. Spacious garden equipped for dining in the open, barbecue and large, panoramic solarium on the roof. Ground floor: sitting room with wood fireplace, satellite TV/DVD area (upon request), kitchen with oven, fridge and dishwasher, dining room with characteristic walls and roof in tufa, 1 twin bedroom, bathroom with shower and window, laundry-ironing room with large freezer and storeroom, 1st floor: 1 double bedroom, bathroom with bath and window, spacious landing with access to a small terrace, 1 twin bedroom, private bathroom with shower and window. Independent gas central heating.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
All the apartments are fully equipped for your sleeping and cooking requirements. On arrival the Clients will find their units in a clean and tidy condition; they are supposed to leave them in the same way on departure.
Sheets and towels are supplied with the weekly change of linens every Saturday (not including towels for the swimming pool), any other requests will be at the expense of the guests.

Castello di Pastine offers holiday homes (Case Appartamenti Vacanze); they are not official tourist structures, such as hotels, residences, etc. but private houses. Being such, they do not have standards or categories that are internationally recognized, indeed they reflect, in their architecture and furnishing, the local traditions and the personal taste of the owner.
This is precisely the kind of holiday we offer: the chance to partake in the culture of Tuscany, living in the same surroundings as an inhabitant would. In order to live this experience in the right spirit, it is important not only that the holiday-maker accepts but also that he will be able to appreciate the differences in the properties we are proposing in comparison with those where he normally lives.

THE LOCATION:
Castello di Pastine is situated in an excellent position a little over 30 km from Florence and Siena, both of which can be reached within half an hour. About 11 km away is the fascinating town of Certaldo, a medieval fortress and the native city of Boccaccio— one of the fathers of Italian literature and the author of the Decameron. San Gimignano, the well-preserved medieval city of towers is just 15 km away, while Volterra, a historic Etruscan city, can be reached driving along 43 km of the most beautiful roads in Tuscany, part of the Volterrana: the legendary road for people who love to drive through the countryside, by car or by bike! Then, if you want to taste or buy some excellent wine, you don’t have to go very far to visit the wine cellars where the most famous red wine in the world is made, Chianti Classico.
Throughout the year the Tuscan towns and cities are animated by fairs, festivals, theme-celebrations and historic re-enactments from the middle ages with street markets, suppers, tastings and fireworks.
